At Hillcrest Christian College, choral music plays a vibrant and valued role in our Performing Arts offering. From Year 2 through to Year 12, students are given the opportunity to discover and develop their personal interests and strengths through singing.
Our Choral Program encourages students of all abilities to participate, whether they’re just beginning their musical journey or ready to perform at an advanced level. With both inclusive and auditioned pathways available, students experience the joy of collaborative music-making while building confidence, discipline, and a love for vocal performance.
The Choral Excellence Program is designed for students who demonstrate strong vocal ability and a passion for performance. Entry is by audition, and ensemble members rehearse weekly to refine technique, ensemble blend, and musical expression. Students in these ensembles participate in a range of performances, workshops, and national or international tours, gaining experience in professional-level music making.
Vocal coaching is a core element of the program, with students receiving specialised tuition during school hours to support their development in vocal technique, aural skills and music literacy. The program also includes a Choral Camp in Term 1, which provides a dedicated weekend of rehearsals, team-building, and the opportunity to work with visiting choral clinicians.

Hillcrest’s choral program offers pathways for students at every stage of their musical journey, from early exploration to advanced performance. Whether participating in a curriculum choir or striving for excellence in an auditioned ensemble, every student is given the opportunity to find their voice and experience the power of choral music.
Our annual Musical is a highlight of the school calendar, involving students from all performing arts disciplines. Past productions include classics such as “Guys and Dolls,” “Beauty and the Beast,” and “Cinderella.”
Students have the opportunity to participate in either the Middle Learning ‘Big Show’ or, for those in Years 9–12, the College Musical. Student can audition and participate in these exciting, large-scale performances, contributing to the College’s rich tradition of musical theatre.
