The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award

Hillcrest Christian College proudly offers The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award (DofE) as part of our co-curricular program, providing students with a unique opportunity to develop independence, leadership, and resilience through real-world experiences. This globally recognised program challenges students to push their limits, explore the outdoors, serve their communities, and develop new skills.

Through Bronze, Silver, and Gold levels, students engage in a combination of physical activity, skill development, voluntary service, and adventurous journeys. These experiences are designed to build confidence, teamwork, and a spirit of adventure while fostering a commitment to personal growth.

Students undertaking the DofE Award at Hillcrest Christian College, participate in a range of challenging expeditions, such as bushwalking and kayaking through breathtaking landscapes, including the Tweed Valley, Mount Warning, and Lamington National Park. Expeditions require students to navigate terrain, carry their own equipment, and work as a team to complete their journey. These experiences not only strengthen outdoor skills but also cultivate self-reliance and perseverance.

Beyond expeditions, participants dedicate time to volunteering, fitness, and skill-building, making the Duke of Ed Award a well-rounded program that fosters lifelong learning and personal achievement.
